Transmutation and the Dissolution of Lust

Our Mind and Sexual Energy are Linked

Just in case you do not know or are not fully aware of it, there is a very strong link between our mind and our sexual centre.

We know that our thoughts, especially our imagination affects our sexual centre, I’m sure everyone knows about this.

Mind Affects Sex

So it is quite easy to accept then that the thoughts we think can stir up, pacify or direct our sexual energy. That is well known, but it is not so well know that our sexual energy can affect our mind.

Sex Affects Mind

This has to be so, that the state of the sexual energy affects our mind. This is so because any type of relation goes two ways. In fact we often in relationships only see one side and we make the mistake here of only really seeing one side too, the side that the thoughts affect the sexual energy.

Both are linked and they share a similar nature, just as in the theory of yoga that if one controls the breath, one controls the mind and the sexual energy.

If our sexual energy is made to flow in our mind will then think inwardly about its own nature, about inner processes about our Being and about our psychology. Whereas, if the sexual energy is prompting to flow outward the mind will be focused on external things, and very focused on them even to the point of obsession.

Transmutation – the Key

The key to help us tremendously is the key of transmutation, which is to make the sexual energy to flow inward and thus making our mind to focus inwardly and therefore away from the external which is lust.

We have to when we have these sexual storms and where lust takes advantage really transmute in anyway, as a married couple or as a single very intensely. Even if we are married we have to transmute by ourselves very intensely in these type of times.

Prana and Us

In the Individual

Prana is in the individual, for example a person. Everyone comes to life with a certain amount of prana and we can maintain it, increase it or decrease it according to the food we eat, the air we breathe, the thoughts we think and the life we lead. When we die the prana that has been accumulated in the body leaves, if it were to stay perhaps the body would not decompose, or at least decompose at a slower than normal rate. We die because essentially prana, leaves the body, so in the end prana is that which gives us life and sustains our life.

A Prani

An individual is called a prani because he or she has prana and consciousness. Prana is the greatest friend an individual has. It comes as an aid, because it is the cosmic Christ it comes to everyone as an aid to help everyone and as the Cosmic Christ always does it comes to us so to save us. In particular prana allows the energy we need to fabricate soul and with soul we may free ourselves from Samsara and reach the self-realisation.

Kosha

The yogis say that prana in a person projects itself or collects in what they call pranayama kosha which can be thought of a pranic field which is of course subtler than the physical body. Thanks to Kirlian photography this halo or pranic field that surrounds people can be seen.

Nadis

In the pranic field or pranic body, prana flows through nadis which are energy channels and is stored in the chakras which are energy vortices. The Vedic scriptures say that there are 72 000 nadis and six main chakras. Gnosis on the other hand says that there are many chakras however the main ones are seven in number. Some other branches of the Vedic sciences say that there are seven main chakras as well.

Ayruveda

Prana as we have been examining it comes from Vedeantic philosophy, Hinduism, yoga and features prominently in Ayruveda. In Ayruveda prana in its most subtle material form is the breath. It is also found in the blood and its most concentrated from is in the semen and vaginal fluids. In Ayruveda the sun and sunshine are also sources of prana. Prana also has a cosmic aspect as well.

Prana and Breath

Prana enters the body through the breath or is liberated from the sexual energy and travels through the nadis or channels in the body and is stored in the chakras. The Hindus say that we have 72 000 nadis in the human body.

More about Prana

Prana is Very Elevated

Prana is something very elevated and we can’t readily perceive it as it is, that is how it is within itself with our five senses. Though what we can perceive with our five senses is the prana that things have or radiate. For example, in the case of a rose, the smell of the rose and its beauty and the life that radiates from it are an expression of the prana contained in the rose. In short what we really perceive with our five senses is the prana that things have, so when it comes to perceiving prana with our five senses we can only perceive prana as it is in things that have or had life, that is in other human beings, plants, animals, rocks, food etc.

Prana can not be Perceived

As we have mentioned earlier, prana by itself can not be perceived as a solid physical substance, i.e. something that can be can be weighed, photographed or measured. All that we can do is to perceive prana when it undergoes certain modifications and subdivides itself. For example, when prana subdivides itself we can perceive and receive prana in a piece of bread, in grapes and in what we breathe.

Modified

Please note, that when prana is modified it becomes a very important substance which is called Akash or Akasa and later when Akash is modified it becomes Ether, and when the vibrations of ether called tattwas condense we have the four physical elements of physical nature.

Different Sources

Prana is also light, colour, heat and as Master Samael said, it is Universal Magnetism. The beauty and richness of a flower is due to prana and the beauty that a human being has is also due to prana. Prana also allows the human being to perceive images, it is the magical component or force that forms the images on our retina so that we can see.

There is an intense source of Prana in the sun and the sun radiates it out to all the planets in the solar system. It is the prana from the sun that really gives the abundance and richness of life that we can observe in all the four kingdoms of nature in a planet, especially our planet earth.

There is of course prana in the sexual energy and when we sublimate it a lot of prana is conserved and converted into ojas which is a subtler form of energy. This energy accumulates in the brain and is used for creative and spiritual development.

We also receive prana from the environment (a forest is rich in prana), from food, from water, from the sun and from the air. The prana that we received is stored in our chakras and later released by our chakras into the body. The yogis say that the places on the Earth that are richest in prana are locations high up in the mountains.

There is not much prana in the cities as there is an imbalance of electricity and magnetism, there is much more magnetism there in the cities than there is electricity, it is has been said that the noise and constant activity dissipates the electricity. In the country there is a better balance of magnetism and electricity and so there is more prana there.

Kundalini

Kundalini is also a variant of cosmic prana. Some yogis even say that kundalini is cosmic prana and they go on to say “The entire experience from creation to dissolution is embedded inside the folds of the kundalini. Cosmic prana and kundalini are synonymous terms. Awakening the kundalini one unites with the cosmic prana.”.

Feeds Our Essence

Prana is also something that feeds the essence. It is a food for the essence and it is something that crystallises in the essence though which we can use to fabricate soul.

Prana as the Cause of Motion

Vibration

Prana is also vibration, as mentioned in the section on the definition of Prana, Prana has the quality of never being still, it is that which is in constant motion. Prana is in constant motion because it has within it both poles, the positive and the negative that is electricity and magnetism, and by the very nature of electricity, the component of electricity in prana makes it look for the other pole to travel to, so to fecundate it. It is the nature of electricity that produces the restlessness of prana, and it is worth noting here that when electricity finds its other pole, magnetism is created.

Just as when a couple, man and woman sexually unite (union of the two opposite poles) magnetism between them is created. The sexual force that brings them together is their sexual electricity, a force that comes to them from their interior divinity.

So, prana is sexual in nature because it has the two poles within it, which as we have mentioned are electricity and magnetism. These two poles by their very nature are dynamic and are themselves in constant motion, so for this reason, Prana is vibration and movement and so the movement of everything or anything has its base or origin in prana. Prana gives things the vibrations that they have.

Prana as the Cause of Electricity and Magnetism

Introduction

It is said that prana contains both electricity and magnetism, and that prana is actually the cause of electricity and magnetism. Master Samael also described prana as being Universal Magnetism.

Magnetism

Magnetism is considered to be the negative pole of prana and electricity is considered to be the positive pole. The positive pole of prana being electricity has the property of always looking for its opposite negative pole. We can say that the positive pole is magnetically attracted to the negative pole and as electricity being the positive pole searches for magnetism the negative pole a magnetic force or attraction between the both poles is set up, creating within prana that pervading universal magnetic force.

Electricity

The role of the electricity the positive pole in prana is to fecundate, and it when the positive pole finds the negative that is electricity finds magnetism, the result of the coming together of these two opposite poles is electromagnetism, considered to be one of the four fundamental forces known by Science. It is the electricity component of prana that gives prana it’s property of constant movement and it is the magnetic component of prana that allows prana to sustain and hold all things together.

In physics when there is an electric current, that is when charged particles move to find their oppositely charged compliment, a magnet field is created. Conversely when a magnetic field moves an electric current is created or induced. Even in physics electricity and magnetism are intimately linked thus there is what is called electromagnetic force, which is a combination of the two principles.

Electricity comes from the three primary forces, that is the first, second and third logoi or in other terms the Holy Affirming, the Holy Denying and the Holy Conciliating, or in Christianity the Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit or borrowing the Hindu terms: Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva.

Prana –In Science and Myth

Scientific Perspective

From a modern scientific perspective, conventional scientific research today describes prana as a complex amalgamation of several forces or energies, such as the magnetic, electrical, electromagnetic, photonic, thermal and mental forces or energies.

In Myth

There is a story from the Upanishads that goes: “Once all the deities that reside in the body - air, fire, water, earth, ether, speech and mind - had an argument. Each claimed that it was superior to all others, declaring, "I sustain this perishable body." Prana was listening to this debate, and ultimately said to them, "Do not delude yourself. It is I, having divided myself into five parts, who supports and sustains this body." The deities did not believe him. Indignantly, Prana began to withdraw from the body. Instantly, all the other deities found themselves withdrawing too. When Prana again settled in the body, the deities found that they had assumed their respective places. Convinced of Prana's superiority, all now paid obeisance to Prana.”

This story affirms the Prana is the source of everything in manifestation and it is also the start of creation and it is something that sustains everything. Just as the myth says if there were no prana there would be no creation.

Note, as an aside, there seems to be modifications and types or sub-types of prana. However, the first type of prana, called mahaprana which is the Sanskrit word for cosmic prana, was the prana that came into being at the dawn of creation.

Prana – As Energy

As Energy

Prana is an energy rather than a substance, just as electricity is associated more with energy than matter. Prana is not matter but an energy, that comes from the Cosmos, from the Universe, from the Cosmic Christ. Note, prana in Gnosis is described as being the Cosmic Christ.

Prana is a vital force that sustains creation, it is a primeval force at the base of creation. It is described as being the force that came from the will of the absolute to bring about creation. It is at its very root a cosmic energy, that descends from the very heights of the cosmos so give life and help all living creatures without exception. That is the love of the Cosmic Christ.

Prana - Many Names

Prana is known in many religions and spiritual systems of knowledge. In Hinduism and Ayruveda this cosmic energy is known as prana, in Gnosis it is known as the Cosmic Christ, some oriental traditions call it Chi, while others call it Ki. Other esoteric traditions may refer to it as the Cosmic Mother and they are right as well because we know that what is in the Mother is also in the Father, and what is in the Father is also in the Son the Cosmic Christ.

Prana - Definition

Definition

It is a Sanskirt word consisting of two syllables “pra” and “na” that together denote constancy or a force that is in constant motion. Meaning, prana is dynamic, is always moving and is never still. It is the force the yogi’s say, is behind every action and thought, and it is the force or energy that gives life to, and maintains life in each cell of our body.

Note:

Prana has also according to some sources been translated as Pra (before) and ana (breath), meaning that which is before there is breath. Because prana is not the breath it is something enters and leaves us through the breath. It is the vital energy that rides on the breath.

The ancient Indian yogis called the force inherent in all motion, prana. Furthermore prana can be translated as energy or vital force. It is also translated as breath. Prana has the quality of livingness and it can even be called life force.

Prana is not something that is only known to the yogis of India, the various world traditions have also recognised the presence of prana and have given it such names as: vital force, ki, chi, orgone and energy. Prana is the vital energy of the universe and everything that lives does so because of prana.

In Everything

Prana is present in everything and it gives things their existence and their material form. If there were no prana there would be no existence and creation would all disintegrate. Prana gives things life. It is life. The wind blows and rivers flow because of prana.

Universal Sense

In the universal sense Prana is a cosmic energy, a substance that contains everything and is cosmic sustenance, an energy that sustains everything. It in Gnosis is known as the Cosmic Christ. That is why Christ in the bible, being one with the Christ that is with prana, was able to heal the sick, the blind and the crippled. He was able to direct his prana, the prana of the Cosmic Christ into the sick to heal them.

Origin of the Elements

Everything Begins with Prana

Gnosis teaches that everything begins with Prana which is that great cosmic energy that is life itself. That Prana is then later transformed into a substance called Akash, which happens to fill all of space, and when the substance Akash is modified it becomes the Ether. When the Ether vibrates, these vibrations become what are called the Tattwas, which are known to be the different vibrations of the Ether. When the Tattwas condense or crystallize the four physical elements of air, fire, water and earth are born.

Tattwas

The different Tattwas which are really the closest origin of the four physical elements are the various states of the Ether. It seems that the Ether can be in several states, though what is of interest to us here are the states of the Ether that produce the physical elements.

Master Samael answers this question quite concisely saying: “The Ether exists in an igneous state, (Tejas). The Ether exists in a gaseous fluidic sate, as the principle of air, (Vayu). The Ether exists in an aqueous state as the principle of water, (Apas). The Ether exists in a petrous state as the principle of minerals, (Prithvi).”.

Here is a story from the Upanishads that that supports what we have outlined above:

“Once all the deities that reside in the body - air, fire, water, earth, ether, speech and mind - had an argument.

Reading these lines may be very interesting, but at the same time a bit confusing or vague. For the reason being, that none of these terms have been clearly described. So for a clearer understanding, we have in the following sections provided descriptions of the latter terms.

The following sections describe what Prana, Akash, the Tattwas and the Ether are, and how they differ from one another. For a more in-depth description of each of these terms please refer to subsequent posts.

The Being is Natural in Us

Introduction

This statement “the Being is natural in us” is something very useful for us to know and to comprehend. This short article will reveal to why.

Experience

The Being in us is something that is entirely natural, the Being is something that is neither sensational nor spectacular nor amazingly spiritual. The Being is something spiritual yes, most definitely, but yet it is something that is very comfortable and natural at the same time.

Concepts

We often can develop concepts or ideas of what it is like to have the Being inside of us, and they can often either scare us, produce repulsion inside of ourselves or on the other side of things, make us to fantasize, thinking that with the Being we will be ultra-powerful, all-knowing etc. etc. Anyway, all of these concepts are false. When one makes the Being inside of oneself a reality, these concepts can be directly contrasted with the reality, and the person can then know how true these concepts are.

Truth

More likely what the truth is, is that the Being in us is something so natural and comfortable, and the last thing that it does is produce fear, anxiety, discomfort and rejection inside of us. The Being in us can mean many things of course, and one of these things can mean no egos in the human machine for several days.

Conclusion

So our ides for example that scare us and produce rejection inside of us, telling us that we are going to be ultra spiritual for example are not true. We need not be scared or produce rejection for that future state or event. It is very helpful to understand that when that time comes we will feel it very natural to be more and more of the Being.

So from now on, having comprehended the above paragraphs, any thought that appears in our mind suggesting that we will not like being with our inner Divine Being can be quickly and confidently separated from our psyche, because we have understood that we will feel very naturally happy with the Being inside of us and that it is something to look forward to. We can then next ask for the elimination of the defect that produces such thoughts.

The Key of Changing Centres

Introduction

There is a very simple key in Gnosis called ‘changing centres’. It is very natural, so natural in fact that we may even stumbled across it by ourselves at some point. It is even so simple and common sense that we often make the mistake of overlooking or dismissing it.

So, if we find ourselves in a negative sate which could include feeling worried, anxious, sad, angry, upset, hurt, low, apathetic etc. the key of changing centres is a simple and excellent way of transforming that negative state into a positive one. This key is especially helpful when trying to displace negative mental and emotional states.

Applying the Key

In order to apply this technique effectively we first have to determine the predominant centre in us that is working negatively. In the case of being very worried or anxious it is the mind or intellectual centre, that is functioning predominantly more negative than any of the other centres (emotion, motor, instinct and sex). The mind or intellectual centre is very busy entertaining negative thoughts (a lot of negative projections), and as what we think directly influences the emotional centre we feel anxious, restless, uneasy, nervous, nauseous, etc. all of which are unpleasant sensations in our solar plexus. So once, we know which centre in us is working predominantly negatively, we can apply the technique of changing centres.

The technique says that once you know the centre in you that is functioning predominantly more negatively than the other centres then all that you need to do is to consciously engage a different centre. For example, taking up the previous example, if we find ourselves worried, nervous or anxious then two options open up before us. Which are to either consciously engage or put into activity the motor centre or the emotional centre. In practical terms that would mean going for a long walk, a jog, a run, climbing a mountain, working out in the gym or working in the garden, that is if we chose the motor centre. If we chose the emotional centre it could mean visiting someone, telling some jokes, going for a drive, singing, playing an instrument, listening to music, talking to someone or anything that for you is an enjoyable emotional activity.

The Key – Do it wholeheartedly

What happens when we change centres is that the predominant negative activity of one centre is displaced by the functioning of the new centre we have changed to or have started to use. The trick is to do the new activity whole heartedly. For some people when they feel nervous and anxious, to change centres to the motor centre, by getting fully involved or engrossed in some strenuous physical activity is very effective in displacing or relieving the anxious or nervous state. It seems in these cases of nervousness or anxiety, changing centres to an emotional activity is not as effective as changing centres to a physical motor activity.

Benefits

This technique has many benefits to it. One of the very obvious ones is that when we change centres we give ourselves a chance to do something more productive. For example, if we are emotionally upset or angry we usually just wonder around the house talking to ourselves doing nothing particularly productive. Actually, we are doing something destructive in the sense that we are wasting our own energies, we all know very well how we feel after being angry and pacing around the house in anger, we feel exhausted, tense and usually to top it off we find ourselves with a head ache. This is all due to having wasted our energies and allowed our energies to have been used negatively.

Imagine that instead of continuing to feel upset or nervous or sad we can consciously change our negative state by engaging another centre, and while we do that save energy and do something productive, such as clean the house or garden. As we have mentioned earlier this technique only works if we do it whole heartedly with determination, and the sooner we do it the easier it will be to displace the negative state. The longer we leave a negative state the more momentum it gathers inside of us and of course more effort will be required to displace it.

Conclusion

This key is only a way to displace or perhaps control negative states, it is not a way to eliminate negative states, for this we need another type of knowledge and practice. However, using this key you will be able to avoid many problems in life that are caused by reactions that come from negative states or emotions.

What is a Master and What is Self-Realisation

Master

In Gnosis what we refer to as master is a human being who has worked on him or herself enough to have prepared him or herself so to be obedient to the Being and be able to incarnate the Being and accommodate the Being within their constitution.

A master is also It is also the angel or the adept, it is essentially the human being with the human soul, the situation where the Being is in control and the divine Being has won the battle to control matter, which is the body and its five elements. It is the logical and correct order, where the divine, the noble spirit of creation rules over matter.

Symbol of a Master

The master is symbolised by the flaming star or the five pointed star or pentagram with the single point pointing upwards.

The five pointed star master Samael says, is the position that Masters use to meditate in. To adopt this position one should lie down on the floor with his or her head facing east.

The Real Master

The real master is the divine Being of the person, the person him or herself is not the master. But the person with the Being inside is then or can be called a master. Take away the Being and we are left with a human being. The human being is not a master but the Being inside the person is the master.

The difference between this type of person and the common person, is that this person has worked for many years on him or herself to awaken the sacred fire, create the superior existential bodies of the Being (astral, mental and causal bodies) and have cleared away the ego enough to be able to do the will of the Being.

Such a person can fulfil the will of the Being and essentially in a person like this, even if the person has the ego alive, the person is humble enough and empty enough to be able to do the will of the inner master and so the inner Master, the Being is in control of that person and in fact there is a part of the Being inside the person and it is the human soul. So rightfully so that person can be called a master because when the person acts and speaks it is a part of the Being that is doing it.

Self-Realization

Such a person has fulfilled the parlock duty, which is that of creating the bodies, overcome the hypnosis of the ego and has incarnated the human soul which makes the person a real human being and no longer an intellectual animal.

This is the first step of self-realisation where the Being can enter the person and fulfil his mission of perfecting his realisation and helping humanity.

Emptying/Cleaning Yourself

A Need

Sometimes we feel the need to empty ourselves of all that we have swirling, orbiting, popping up and lurking inside of us. We can accumulate so many impressions inside us that we feel full of impressions and so the need to empty ourselves of these impressions arises. We can be also at times, so full of the mental activities related to buying things, organizing finances, organizing people, organizing events, worrying about people and their problems and so many more trivial life related matters, that we are dragged away from our inner core and stuck instead in a mind whirling with images, ideas, problems trying to organize and solve all these issues. And this can be very tiring.
After experiencing these things we come to the conclusion that we need to empty ourselves and clean our mind out. The way to do this is to peel away or shed all these layers and reach the inner most essential part of ourselves.

Shedding Everything

As we mentioned above the way to empty ourselves and clean out the mind is to shed or remove these issues from the mind. There are practices to do this and we have provided some in this post.
These practices work because when we release all these issues from our mind we get closer and closer to our essence which is the essential in us, it is the clarity in us, it is organisation in us, it is peace within us and among so many other things it is direct knowledge. So with the essence we will be able to know what we have to do and how we should do it, but besides that when the essence shines in us it clears away all that is superfluous and its light transforms our darkness (worries, problems, etc.) by means of its wisdom and love into more light and trust.
Getting to the essence via shedding away all these mental layers empties us and the essence cleans us, renews us and brings a new novel flavour about life to us.

Back to Nature

Sometimes going to nature when we can is a great help to empty and clean ourselves psychologically. Because after being in nature for a little while we are drawn to become aware of what is essential and one of the many things that come to our awareness about what is essential is health, quality of life, awareness of what we are doing in life, breath and the love for others.
Going back to nature after a while, especially when we isolate ourselves from all the business of life we come to empty ourselves and clean our mind as well. Actually the elementals of nature have this marvellous effect on us, an effect of cleaning us. Water and fire and also the trees can do this for us. We can if know such practices in Gnosis ask the elementals of nature to heal, rejuvenate and clean us.

Doing It!

There are probably many ways to do it, that is to empty and clean yourself (psychologically), though we can synthesise all these ways into two. They are the two ways given below.

Two Ways

The ways to empty and clean ourselves is prayer and or meditation.

Prayer

·         So find a nice spot somewhere. Somewhere quiet, and preferably alone and preferable in nature, like your backyard, like a park, like the beach, like the top of a building, like the woods or bush and like country side.

·         Kneel down and open your arms and put all your attention and focus on your heart and breath and just breathe. Have in your awareness the importance of your breath, how it is the moment and how it is life itself. Then also understand how important your heart is and that in your heart is an atom of your Being and your essence your essential, inner most core of life.

·         Any issues that pop in the mind make a conscious issue to drop them, to release them. If they don’t go and repeatedly come back, you have no other remedy but to work on them. You have to go into them and see what it is that we need to correct or understand.

Meditation

·         Once again find a nice spot somewhere. Preferably somewhere quiet. It could be anywhere as long as you can concentrate.

·         Concentrate on your mind extend your awareness throughout your mind and wait for the issues t appear.
·         Look into each issue and find its major point or argument.

·         Analyse it by finding out what it really wants, find the truth about it. Question it and apply duality to it, by reversing it, seeing the opposite side to it, apply it to ourselves instead of others.

·         Then let each issue go as we analyse it. Most importantly of all keep your attention fixed on the task.

Conclusion

The act of uncovering eh essence is to empty ourselves and activating or making the essence shine is to clean and renew ourselves. This very simple formula never fails it is the synthetic solution and there are many ways to do this. We have given just two, but here are many more, which are fine as long as they uncover the essence and make the essence shine.

Everything Boils Down to a State of Consciousness

Everything We Do in Gnosis

Everything that we do in Gnosis is really to increase and maintain higher states of consciousness. The practices of mystical death, alchemy or transmutation, astral unfolding, mystical practices, jinas science, and meditation etc. all in the end or in final synthesis just produce in us and maintain in us a superior state of consciousness.

Each of these practices should leave us with a new, different state of consciousness. The fact that we feel very different after each of these practices is the proof that we have elevated ourselves to a new, superior state of consciousness.

All that Counts

All that counts is our state of consciousness. All that we are left with at night when we sleep and when we die is our state of consciousness. So really we should make efforts in our life to increase our state of consciousness and maintain what we have gained.

Our Treasure

We can have a warehouse full of gold and precious jewels and we can have 50 million dollars waiting in the bank or we could have millions of dollars of investment properties though we can lose all of them or we can get too sick to even remember them. But the Being (our inner divinity) and our state of consciousness are things that we can not ever loose.

The Being will never leave us, because we are part of it.

Conclusion – State of Consciousness

We are a consciousness, that is what we are and what matters is that we know that and live according to that understanding and most importantly that we care for the condition of that consciousness and we care for how it is used by us. Yes we are responsible for our consciousness no one else is!
