Concepts Wrong from the Senses Means A Lot is Wrong! - (809)

Introduction

In a talk that Master Samael gave that was coincidentally recorded and is quite readily available, Master Samael among many other things talks briefly about the senses and concepts and how the concepts that we have are inherently or intrinsically wrong.

What I am going to do in this post is just explain in my own words what Master Samael said. I’ll try to use the same words as he used as much as I can remember.

When we Grow Up the Sensual Mind Develops

Master Samael said in that talk that when a child grows, the child’s senses begin to develop and so the sensual mind then begins to develop as well. As the sensual mind begins to develop it begins to develop the capacity to create concepts.

Sensual or Sensory Mind Creates Concepts

The concepts that the sensual mind creates are based on the senses that is based on the data that the sensual mind gleams or interprets from the senses. In effect, the contents of the newly created concepts are data from the senses.

Senses are Imperfect

Now as the senses are imperfect and subjective the concepts that are created are also imperfect or incorrect and subjective. As the number of concepts grows our mind begins to fill with wrong concepts and so we begin to give the wrong answers to life and take things in life wrongly, all because we take things in life with our concepts.

The senses are imperfect, because they are organic and also more because they are incomplete. Take this example, which happens so many times to us, we may see a person putting a few notes into his pocket after having walked past the money tin. We then using this visual data come to a conclusion that he took that money from the tin. But is this true? It may not be, that is plausible isn’t it? So the senses provide some information on a certain level, but not a complete set of information. So as a device or apparatus of perception they are not perfect or complete. They are quite limited in actual fact.

Concepts Create Perceptions

Once we have concepts we then create perceptions. In other words we perceive the events of life in accordance with our concepts. As the concepts we create are wrong our perceptions then are wrong.

Every Ego is a Concept and a Perception

Every ego has at its base a concept and the ego is no more than an answer to the events of life.

Every ego also has its perceptions. The perceiving part of the ego makes us quite mediocre and stupid at times, anyway besides that, it seems that a very big part of eh ego is its perceptions and that is how it reacts to life, based on its perceptions. So also at the base of the ego are wrong perceptions just as there are wrong concepts.

Conclusion

So that is how we develop a psychology that is off skew. Furthermore the more concepts that we have the more ignorant we are and the more fragmented we are and the more we lack the truth. This is all because we use concepts as a substitution for the truth. The consciousness on the other hand just knows outside of any concept.

If we can find or localise the concepts and perceptions of the ego that we are working on we can do quite a bit of transformation on ourselves and also a good bit of dissolution of that ego.

Go for the concepts and that will change perceptions! Work on the concepts using the truth, find the truth and then dissolve the concept. A lot of the work of dissolution is about finding the truth and then that truth dissolves all the untrue latent in the concepts and in the other elements of the ego.

The Sexual Centre is a Centre of Gravitation - (808)

Introduction

Master Samael said in one of his talks that the sexual centre is a centre of gravitation. Which is at first, quite a strange statement and invites one to reflection.

What Does this Mean?

It means actually that the sexual centre is unlike any other centre in that it has some very different properties than the other centres.
It essentially means that the sexual centre has the power or special characteristic to become a centre where things, events, circumstances, people revolve around it. It has the power to draw things into it and to it. The other centres of the human machine such as the emotional, intellectual, motor and instinctive centres don’t do this.

Conclusion

Master Samael says that many social events revolve around sex or have their centre of gravity in sex.

This may be taken wrongly, in the sense that people reading these lines may think that the sexual act is involved or that there is the hope or expectation or thoughts of the sexual act. I am pretty sure Master Samael did not mean this, I think that it essentially means that everything comes from the sexual energy or the energy of life and because of this at the very base of all things there is this sexual energy. So if there was no sexual energy there would be no events, no people and no creation.

The tendency that people have is as soon as the word sex is mentioned they think of the sexual act, but sex is much more than this and very much more wider. It is base of everything.

Temptations are Duality - (807)

Introduction

Duality is a very large conditioner and nearly everything except our consciousness is conditioned by duality or conditioned by virtue of the opposites.

Temptation to Bring Out Contradictions

Temptation is seated in duality. It is like temptations are there to bring out your inner contradictions so that you unify yourself, that is unify yourself in the ego or in the Being. We are really only tempted when we are fighting or struggling between the two opposites of the duality within the temptation. Wherever there is duality the re immediately is relativity. For someone a temptation is not at all a temptation because they just naturally chose the ego without a second’s thought and some may chose the Being or the essence without a second thought.

Use Duality

We can use duality to our advantage when we face temptation. If we see all that we will acquire or experience when we pass a temptation we see temptation as a chance to win something new. The big key is to look upon what we will gain with an emotion greater than the emotion inherent in the temptation. The big key or pivotal point is the emotion.

It has been said that in a battle between mind and emotion, emotion has the tendency to win.

To create emotion we have to go over and over the benefits of wining in our mind, we need to go over and over it with our intellect until it enters our emotion. That is how understanding or consciousness moves in our centres. IT starts in our intellect then with repletion it filters down into the emotion and then a more complete level of comprehension is acquired. Then after entering the emotion it enters the motor centre and then it enters the consciousness, and later it enters or fuses with the understanding and wisdom or consciousness of the parts of the Being.

Defeating Temptation Gives You Your Future Back

When we fail or triumph over a temptation we change our life. We either delay the progressions of our life’s events or path’s events or our life and path takes a different course.

When we pass temptations we create our future and vice versa.

Conclusion

Temptation is a battle of light and darkness, temptation is needed to bring out our contradictions so to give us the chance to unify either in light or in darkness. Light is happiness and darkness is bitterness.

Emotion is very important in triumphing over temptation, because we always act by virtue of emotion. The whole trick is to move emotion in favour of triumph.

Eliphas Levi on Points of Balance - (806)

Introduction

This excerpt from Eliphas Levi, reveals how important balance is. For me what this excerpt reveals is that there are two opposites or two different qualities and when you bring them together in balance you create something very different to both of them and that something different is a magical quality that is of the Being and the consciousness and is a quality that is most useful in life and esotericism and it is a quality that creates harmony.
The following excerpt comes from a book titled “The Great Secret” by Eliphas Levi. The excerpt is the first thirteen paragraphs of chapter VII.

Excerpt

“The whole power of magic is in the central point of the universal equilibrium.
The wisdom which strikes this equilibrium is contained in these four dicta: know the truth, will what is good, love beauty, do what is just! Because truth, goodness, beauty and justice are inseparable; so that he who knows the truth must need will what is good, to love it because it is beautiful and to do it because it is just.
The central point in the intellectual and moral order is the link between science and faith. In human nature this central point is the medium in which soul and body combine to establish the identity of their action.
In physics it stands for the resultant of opposing forces compensated by one another.
Understand this link, take possession of this medium, act upon this resultant!
ET ERITUS SICUT DII SCIENTES BONUM ET MALUM.
(“And ye shall be as Gods, knowing good and evil”).
The point of balance between life and death is the great secret of immortality.
The point of balance between day and night is the mainspring of the movement of the worlds.
The balancing point between science and faith is the great secret of philosophy.
The balancing point between order and liberty is the great secret of politics.
The balancing point between men and women is the great secret of love.
The balancing point between will and emotion, between action and reaction is the great secret of power.
The great secret of high magic, the inexpressible, incommunicable secret is nothing other than the balancing point between the relative and the absolute.”

Eliphas Levi on Pleasure - (805)

Introduction

This is one passage from Eliphas Levi is one that at least I found myself understanding, rather than the perplexed feeling (going straight over my head) I get when reading Eliphas Levi. I found it very illuminating actually concerning the nature of pleasure.
The following excerpt comes from a book a very good friend gave or lent me (have to ask him – maybe he only lent it to me) titled “The Great Secret” by Eliphas Levi. The excerpt is the first four paragraphs of chapter III.

Excerpt

“Pleasure is a foe which is fated to become either our slave or our master. To possess it we must fight it, and before we can enjoy pleasure it has to be conquered.

Pleasure makes a charming slave but a cruel, pitiless and murderous master. It tires, exhausts and kills everyone it owns; after cheating all their desires and betraying all their hopes. Servitude to some pleasure is called a passion. Domination over some pleasure is called a power.

Nature has partnered pleasure with duty; if we divorce it from duty it festers and poisons us. If we devote ourselves to duty, pleasure will no longer be divorced from duty but will follow us and be our reward. Pleasure is inseparable from goodness. The upright man may suffer, it is true, but a tremendous pleasure emerges for him out of his sufferings. Job on his dunghill was visited by God who consoled and relieved him; while Nebuchadnezzar on his throne fell beneath a fatal hand which deprived him of his reason and transformed him into a beast. Jesus gave a shout of triumph as He died on the cross, as if he could feel His imminent resurrection; whereas Tiberius, in the midst of his criminal pleasures on Capri, laid bare the agonies of his soul in a letter to the senate in which he wrote that he felt he died every day!

Evil only gets a grip on us through our vices and through the fear with which it inspires us. The Devil hunts down those who are frightened of him, and flees from those who resist him boldly. The art of chaining up demons is to do good and fear nothing.”

Conclusion

The main point for me there is that the real happiness or pleasure is joined by nature to duty.

Repolarise the Temptation! - (804)

An Aspect of Temptation

Temptation is about getting something, what makes the temptation powerful is that there is something to be gained or obtained. The greater the desire for that attainment or the more important it is to us, the greater the force of temptation will be felt in us.

We have to know or see that that there is something positive to gain in not giving into to temptation.

Missing Out

Usually we feel that we are missing out on something or loosing something. If we see that we are gaining something when we triumph over a temptation then we can actually give ourselves a better chance in actually triumphing over or not succumbing to temptation.

To counteract this we have to contrast what we will gain by not succumbing to temptation and what we are denying and what we will lose if we fail. So it is to do the opposite of what the temptation has us do.

Conclusion

See the side of triumphing, see that something will be gained rather than something will be lost. Also see what we will lose if we fail! The main power of temptation is feeling happy, see that we will feel happy when we triumph over it because we will gain something. We think that giving in is where the happiness is, which is not true there is happiness in triumphing.

Either way temptation is something of a gift. IF we triumph we get a gift, if we fail we get a gift only that pain comes later with gift, and when we triumph happiness comes with that gift.

Fear in Self-Love - (803)

Introduction

The main engine of self-love is fear. Deep down in self-love is the fear that we will lose the love of the person or that we will lose love itself.

Love can not be Lost

If there is love, it won’t be lost. Love is a quality of our being and so we can not lose it.

Fear

This fear is what moves us and what makes us feel real panic and anxiety. It is behind the search for confirmation, for verifications, for further insults and further demands. It is what really propels the ego of self-love into action. It is felt as a strong pang and it combines very well with the belief that we feel we can not live without the other person, which of course is not true we will continue to breathe, eat, walk just as we did when we were born.

Where does Hatred Come From? - (802)

Introduction

Hatred as far as I know is not an instant thing. It develops inside one, and it does not appear without reason. A cause for hatred can always be found, it never just appears without a reason.

This is what this post is about, explaining a little about how hatred in human beings comes to be.

A Process – Good News!

Very briefly, hatred develops inside of us according to a process. That is, it has a beginning, and in the beginning it is not hatred but something much less intense, furthermore it may not even seem like hatred in the beginning, it may feel like pain. Left unchecked this beginning develops into something else and with our wrong intervention or lack of intervention it develops and continues to develop transforming from one thing to another until the feelings of hatred are felt in the person.

This is very good news, because it means that we can catch the beginning of it before it becomes hatred, and if we didn’t happen to catch it we can reverse the process and dissolve it.

The Process

Hurt pride or hurt self-love ð We don’t do anything ð Resentment ð Mind organises resentment ð Hatred.
The origin of hatred is a hurt or injured pride or a hurt self-love. When we are hurt in our pride or self-love the result is that in us we want a sort of compensation for having suffered for having been treated harshly or having been humiliated. We want the psychological feeling that we didn’t get or expected to get to return to us or be returned to us by the offender. If we don’t get that compensation a debt forms in us or an unbalance forms in us where we need to fill the debt or set the scales to be equal again, so we look to make the offender pay for it if they won’t compensate us, and we hope that in making them pay they will feel sorry and they will learn a lesson and they will compensate us after feeling the pain that they made us go through.

So with resentment there is a feeling or intention of revenge. When we begin to compile with the mind all of the resentments we begin to create hatred. Read on to understand more about this.

Hatred – Organised Resentment

A very good friend of mine had a very interesting dream where he learnt that hatred is organised resentment. Meaning that when we put together all of our resentment for a person for example, and we mentally go over it and build up a big case against the person in our mind and emotion we have developed hatred.

This very interesting and helpful experience tells us that hatred is something of the mind and also something of the will, that it is something voluntary and it is something that is sort of conscious or deliberate. But it is not of the consciousness.

This is also good news, meaning that if we don’t want to create hatred we should not allow our mind to organise our resentments, and this information gives us the key to dissolve hatred. If we one by one eliminate our resentments the possibility of creating hatred disappears.

Conclusion

These teachings about hatred are so very valuable, mind you they did not come from me, one came from a very good friend and one from my marvellous missionary, because they give us the key to prevent hatred developing inside of us and if we have hatred inside, great or small, we can reverse the process and dissolve it. Meanwhile we have pride within the potential to create hatred exists, and what’s worse if we have resentment inside we can also create hatred a lot quicker and easier.

Hatred is probably one of the worst things to have inside because from it terrible things can only come. It is also very anti-Christic.

Rejection, Unity, Creation and Balance - (801)

Introduction

Sometimes I wonder what would Master Samael feel if everyone abandoned him and rejected him. If all the masters of the white lodge and the human beings turned their back on him, what would he feel?

(A very silly thing to think because why would the Masters of the white Lodge reject such a Being or Master in the first place, human beings could reject him because they have many “I’s” that accept and reject, but for argument's sake lets go with it.)

The answer is that I am not completely sure, I can only imagine that in such a Master that has no ego, he would not feel as the ego feels. Such a Master has his Being and is one or very close to his Being, and the Being is one with the absolute and all the other Beings. So where would really the rejection be?

No Rejection at the Deepest Levels of Being

It seems that at the very deepest levels of the Being there can be no rejection and therefore no rejection can be felt. So if such a Master lives very deeply inside him or herself which, I imagine the awakened people do, that abyss of separation or pain of rejection would not be felt or even perceived. Mind you this is at the very deep levels of the Being.

Rejection at the Outer Levels of Being and Creation

It seems that on the very outer or surface levels of creation there is separation and a huge multiplicity of things and people and so then there is rejection or separation (it appears that there is but in the very depths it doesn’t exist). The same applies within ourselves , that is at the very outer level or surface of ourselves which is the level of personality and the mind there is then rejection, abandonment and the pain of being rejected, or in other words rejection and abandonment are perceived.

Personality and Mind Perceive Rejection

So in short then, our mind and our personality perceive rejection but because we live by these two elements or we live identified as them, we feel rejected and abandoned and we feel the pain of rejection. So the solution is to live deeper within ourselves, that is closer to our unity, closer to our Being where there is unity with all the other Beings.

Story of Creation

Even when we look at the story of creation we find that the Absolute vomited the Monads that had unbalanced the three Gunas, so in a way the Absolute rejected those Monads from its inner circle and placed them in the outer layers, which is creation or manifestation. So really the self-realisation is about curing that initial rejection, recapturing that unity that was lost.

Balance and Conclusion

So every rejection has a cause, which is essentially because what we are, or what we express or manifest is not inline with the principles or rules of what rejects us. That is always why we get rejected. There was an unbalance or lack of harmony in relation to what rejects us. I wonder if we are in harmony totally within ourselves can we be rejected? Perhaps we could but we would not feel rejected. It seems that we can always get rejected while we are in creation, but the more important thing is feeling rejected - that we can change or be in charge of.

End (801).

When we Ask and Get No Answer - (800)

Pray and No Answer

Sometimes we pray for an answer and we get some sort of guidance or warning or indication of what to do, but then are times when we pray and pray and we don’t seem to get any answer. I’m sure that most of us have passed through this experience.

Why?

It could be that the answer or guidance that we want has to come from within us, or in other words it has to be the human part (us) that decides as we will bear most of the consequences of the decision.
When we receive no answer, instead only a very quiet and peaceful feeling when we ask, then it is because it is up to us, and that it is us that must decide.
This is hard sometimes, because we would rather not go through the hardship of making that decision and would rather receive a clear order from someone else or even better the Being or the masters. But we just sometimes have to bite the bullet ourselves.

Gnosis in Norway? - (799)

Apparently Not

Apparently Gnosis has not made its way to Norway yet. Which is a shame.
It seems that a very large portion of the population speak English in Norway and Gnosis is quite well developed in the English language, so there would be a bundle of material available to start with.

Gnosis in Scandinavia

It is always a question as to how a new country will take to Gnosis. Norway being part of Scandinavia, I wonder how the Scandinavian mindset or personality would take to Gnosis.

Scandinavian People and Gnosis

The Scandinavian people are known to be a little cold in their nature, however this means that Gnosis would or could grow slowly (not like a raging fire) but what is more relevant is that the people are mature enough to recognise the need for such a knowledge and I think that they are. There is a high level of being in Scandinavia and certainly the sexual mysteries could help them a lot, because perhaps they are becoming aware of the negative effects on society of sexual degeneration, because it seems that Iceland has banned pornography on a national level.

Gnostic School Searches

I have done some quick searches and there seems to not be any Gnostic school in Norway at the moment.

Gnostic Schools in Norway

If you know of any feel free to drop me a line.

Why are we in this Situation? - (798)

Answer

Because we decided it some time ago, maybe we don’t remember but we decided upon it. We may not have told anyone or even verbalised it out loud to ourselves, but none the less we made a decision some time ago, perhaps 20 years ago that has lead us to be where we are now.
If we are unhappy right now, then perhaps we made the wrong decision. You know we made that decision because we didn’t have the wisdom or experience of the consequences of having made a decision like that before. So all in all we can’t blame ourselves. Things are different now, we have this wisdom. So in the future or in the next life we won’t make such a decision again or at least not so lightly.
With this wisdom now we can help others and we can help ourselves, because there may be a way out of it.

How do we get out?

Well easy, if we decided to get in, then it can all be undone by deciding to get out. After all that is what we do when we work on the ego, at some point we decided to do certain thngs that created the ego or at least strengthened it and now to dissolve the ego we must first of all decide to dissolve it.
So whatever the situation is, internal or external ask yourself in the intimate depths of your own heart, do you want out? Do you want to change this situation? If yes then decide it and and the next step will become apparent.
The only thing to be aware of is, that some situations are karmic and this implies unpaid karmic debt. This will make it difficult and painful and the karmic programming will take away our will. Yes, that is right the karmic programming implicit to the karmic debt will hijack our will, making us almost incapable of not deciding or if we decide – of not going through with it.

Whatever We have Done Get Up! - (797)

Introduction

Sometimes we can feel really low for this or that reason, perhaps due to the consequences of something that we have done or perhaps due to some impressions that we have received from others.

GET UP!

Whatever it is, we have to say to ourselves: “GET UP!”. Then we have to get up and fight again. We feel weak and it seems hardly worth even trying, the same applies: “GET UP!”.
If we have erred along the way, we feel demoralised, ok feel demoralised but “GET UP!” all the same. Fight again! Acquire momentum, small steps look ahead with true optimism because this real: our fight will wash away the consequences and debts from our errors.

Working with Nature’s Elementals - (796)

In Better Condition

When we are in a better condition, that is without an internal state brought on by vices or we are not bearing the weight and charge of mistakes, the elementals of nature are more willing to help us. After all it has been said that they respect the noble qualities of the soul.

When we have thoughts of vice or very egoic thoughts or we have very prominently in our vibration or aura the charge or weight of mistakes, insults, offences, lust, lying, deceit etc. we can’t concentrate or communicate or work effectively with the elementals of nature. It is like we are psychically bounced away from them. We can approach them or enjoy the elements physically but psychically we are buffered or blocked. We need to correct ourselves and wait.

Seek Contact with Nature’s Elementals

To seek direct contact with the guru deva of your city’s river is worthwhile and is very interesting. A city’s river is very special actually. This is because it is the heart or centre of gravity of the city and so the elemental of a city’s river is powerful and attentive to the people that live by it. The city was built in its precise location because of the river. The life of a city in many ways revolves around the river. In some Australian and European cities this is easy to see.

It may be that the elemental guardians of the city have much to do with the city’s river. The elementals of a city’s river can offer one protection, health and a special kind of psychic help that comes in the form of an almost incredible deep state of relaxation and inner quietude upon which one’s fears and worries melt away and the emotional centre normally tensed, scrunched up and tight unravels releasing its tension and vibrating happily and peacefully.

Why Should I Try? - (795)

Introduction

In short, most certainly you should try it. No harm will come to you. You may feel fear first and as soon as you see that it is something natural and the feeling of magic and wonder will awaken in you, and you will look forward to the times with great excitement where you may be able to astral travel.

The following excerpt from Master Samael explains that there is nothing to fear when it comes to astral projection. We certainly can not lose contact with our physical body by astral travelling. This is because our astral body or consciousness is connected to our physical body by the silver chord and the silver chord can not be easily cut.

It is only the angels of death in accordance with Divine Law and the Cosmic Mother that can sever the silver chord or antahkarana (Sanskrit name of the silver chord). This is done, at the moment that has been destined or determined by the Great Law. So in short astral travel won’t make our time come any sooner, it has already been set, and when it is our time it is our time because the Great Law has determined it and it won’t be due to astral projection.

Excerpt – Fear Mongers

“There are many pseudo-occultists and pseudo-esotericists who spread fear-mongering rumours against voluntary projection of the astral body. It is false and harmful to the Great Work of the Father to make people fearful of projecting the astral body. In fact, projecting the astral body is not dangerous because every human being projects the astral body during the hours of normal sleep. Unfortunately, people walk in their astral body with the consciousness asleep. People do not know how to project at will their astral bodies. There is no danger whatsoever in becoming conscious of one’s own natural functions, which are eating, drinking, marrying and projecting the astral body. These functions are completely natural. If travelling in the astral body were dangerous as the fear mongers state, by now there would be no one living on the Earth because everybody projects the astral body, and still worse, they do so with the consciousness asleep. Nevertheless nothing happens. And so...?”

Excerpt from the book: “The Perfect Matrimony”, by Samael Aun Weor.

Conclusion

So there you have it, there is certainly no danger and harm involved in astral travel and on the contrary there are great benefits in terms of self-knowledge and consciousness that we can arrive at.

Are Dreams Real Astral Experiences? – (794)

Introduction

This article presents a very thorough explanation of what dreams are and how they relate to astral travel. The short answer to the title of this article is yes, dreams are astral experiences. The only difference is that our sate of consciousness during a dream is not as lucid as it is in a conscious and positive astral unfolding. There are dreams which are majority, are simple mental projections that are projected while we are out of the body and our consciousness not being alert enough identifies with the images and remains fascinated by the projections of its own mind the whole night until the body wakes up.

The main feature of this article is the following excerpt from the Secret Doctrine of Anahuac by V.M Samael Aun Weor.

Excerpt on Dreams

“Gnosis teaches that the modern, decadent psychology of the Western Hemisphere is ignorant of the various kinds of dreams that exist.

Dreams have a diverse and specific quality, for they are closely related to each of the psychic centres of the human body.

In fact, we do not exaggerate when we state that most dreams are linked to the motor-instinctive centre. That is, they are the echoes of everything we see during the day: simple sensations and motions — a mere astral repetition of our daily life.

Some experiences of an emotional type such as fear — which harms humanity so much — usually fit in with those chaotic dreams of the motor-instinctive centres as well. There are then, emotional, sexual intellectual, motor and instinctive dreams.

The more important dreams, the inner experiences of the Being, are associated with the two centres the Superior Emotional and the Superior Intellectual. Dreams related to the two superior centres are certainly interesting. Their main feature is what we could call a dramatic array.

Now then, if we think of the Ray of Creation, and the Superior and Inferior centres, and the influences descending throughout the cited cosmic ray, we must admit that some luminous vibrations appear. These intend to heal us, to inform us about the state in which we are, and more.

It becomes useful to receive messages, and to be in contact with the Aztec, Mayan, Toltec, Egyptian, and Greek adepts.

It is marvellous, as well, to have intimate dialogue with the highest, diverse parts of our Being.

The superior centres are fully developed in us, and they send us messages, which we must learn to consciously grasp.

In this chapter, those select people who have had a moment of self-remembrance (in which they saw a common thing or person in a totally different way) will not be surprised, if I tell them that such moments have the same quality as one of those rare and strange dreams related to the two Superior Emotional and Intellectual centres.

The meaning of such transcendental dreams matches — undoubtedly — the same level of the realization in oneself, of the Ray of Creation, and, in particular, the lateral Octave of the Sun [sic]
The beginning of our realization of the deep significance of this specific type of dream is the sign that some forces struggle to awaken, heal or cure us.

Each of us is a mathematical point in space that is used as a vehicle by determined sums of “values” (black or white).

Death is a subtraction of fractions. Once the mathematical operation is completed, the only thing left is the “values” (good or bad).

In accordance with the Law of the Eternal Return, it is certain that the “values” return, they are re-embodied.

If a man starts taking into account more consciously, the small cycle of recurring events of his personal life, he will be able to verify directly, throughout mystical experience, that, in daily sleep, the same mathematical operation of death is always repeated.

In the absence of the physical body, during normal sleep, the “values” merge into the astral light, attract or repel each other in accordance with the Law of Universal Magnetization.

The return to the vigil state rightfully implies the return of the “values” to the interior of the physical body.

Extraordinarily, people think that they only interrelate with the external world.

Gnosis teaches us that we interrelate with an inner world, which is invisible to the physical, ordinary senses, but visible to clairvoyance.

This inner, invisible world is much wider, and it contains many more interesting things than the external world, to where the five windows of the senses are always opened.

Many dreams relate to the place where we are, in the inner, invisible world from which the diverse circumstances of life come forth.

The language of dreams is accurately comparable to the language of parables.

Those who interpret everything literally, think that the sower of the Christic Gospel went to sow, and that the seeds fell on rocks, and so on, but they do not understand the sense of the parable, because it belongs to the symbolic language of the Superior Emotional centre.

Needless to say here, that any dream as absurd or incoherent as it may be, has some significance, for it indicates not only the psychic centre to which it is associated, but also the psychological status of such a centre.

Many penitent people, who presumed to be chaste, failed in the sexual centre, and had a nocturnal pollution when they were submitted to trials in the internal world.

In the perfect adept, the five psychic centres, intellectual, emotional, motor, instinctive, and sexual, function in full harmony with the infinite.

What is our mental activity during sleep? What emotions move or shatter us? What are our activities outside the physical body’? What instinctive sensations predominate’? Have we considered our sexual states during sleep?

We must be sincere with ourselves. Plato rightfully said: “Man is known by his dreams.” The matter of the erroneous work of the centres is a topic that demands a lifetime of study by way of the observation of oneself in action and of the rigorous examination of dreams.

It is not possible to achieve the understanding of the centres, and their correct or incorrect function, in an instant. We need infinite patience.

All of life unfolds as a function of the centres, and is controlled by them.

Our thoughts, ideas, feelings, hopes, fears, love, hatred, deeds, sensations, pleasure, satisfactions, frustrations, and so on, are found in the centres.

The discovery of some inhuman element in any of the centres must be the strongest motive for the Esoteric Work.

Any psychological defect must be previously understood by way of the technique of meditation, before proceeding to its elimination.

The extirpation, eradication or elimination of any undesirable element, is only possible by invoking Tonantzin’s (Divine Mother Kundalini) aid, a variation of our own being, or particular fohat of each of us.

This is how we die from moment to moment. Only death brings forth what is new.

Influences of all kinds reach us, in the levels of beings and things. If we have understood the Ray of Creation, we will also acknowledge that, in any instant of life, influences, which are of various qualities, reach us.

We must always be aware that there are superior influences that act upon us and are recorded by our psychic system. If we are, nevertheless, attached to our senses, and we do not pay full attention to our inner life, we will not be able to perceive these influences.”

Summary

Dreams that very lucid are astral experiences and they are also direct reflections of our psychology. Dreams in most cases are also just mental projections and in that case they are very useful for us to study so that we can know ourselves better. The very wise statement from Plato that says “Man is known by his dreams”, says it all. Any dream that is a projection is an expression of our psychology.

Astral Travel – (793)

Introduction

This article is an attempt to describe what astral travel, astral unfolding or astral projection is and of course to provide you with some practices to experiment for yourself.

Astral Travel Definition Excerpts

The following excerpts describe what astral travel is and how it can be done.

“Before we go into these ideas in more detail, let me say this. To an occultist, the act of astral projecting entails transferring one’s consciousness to the astral body and exploring the astral plane. “

Excerpt from: “What is Astral Projection”, by Donald Degracia

“It is not dangerous to project the astral body because everyone goes out in the astral body while sleeping. Whoever wants to awaken consciousness during sleep must know the key of “discernment.”
While sleeping, every human being moves in the internal worlds with the consciousness asleep. The soul, dressed in its astral body, abandons the physical body while sleeping. This is how the Etheric body can repair the dense body.

When the soul enters the physical body, then we wake up from natural sleep.

While in the internal worlds the souls occupy themselves in the same daily chores; therefore they buy and sell, like in the physical world. The souls of the living and of those who have died live together during sleep. In the internal worlds we see everything as we do in the physical world: the same sun, the same clouds, the same houses of the city, everything is the same.

Now our Gnostic disciples will understand why the deceased do not accept they are dead. Now our disciples will comprehend why the souls of the living buy and sell, work, etc, while sleeping.

By traveling in the astral body is how we know the mysteries of life and death. Every human being goes out in the astral body during sleep. We can know the great mysteries of life and death by awakening consciousness during sleep. There is a key in order to awaken consciousness while sleeping: the key of discernment.

Let’s see: if you are going down a street and you encounter a friend, or see objects that catch your attention, take a little jump with the intention of floating; it’s logical that if you float it’s because you are outside of your physical body; nevertheless, if you do not float it is because you are in the physical body.

It so happens that we act in the internal worlds, during sleep, in the same way that we act in the body of flesh and bone; and if we add to this that we see everything there in the same way that we see it here in the physical world; then we will comprehend that only if we manage to fly will we awaken consciousness so as to realize that we are in the astral body.

This exercise is practiced constantly while in the vigil state and in the presence of anything that is curious. What we do during the vigil state is repeated while we sleep. If we do this practice while sleeping, the result will be that when we jump we will end up floating in the astral body, then our consciousness will awaken and full of happiness we will say: I am in the astral body.

In this way we could head towards the Holy Gnostic Church in order to speak personally with the Angels, Archangels, Seraphim, Prophets, Masters, etc., and in this way we will be able to receive instructions from the Great Masters of the White Lodge, in this way we will be able to travel in the astral body through the infinite.

We do not need to destroy the mind with so many books and theories. In the internal worlds we can receive the teachings of the Masters. When awakening from natural sleep, the disciples must make an effort to remember everything they saw and heard during sleep.

It is necessary that our disciples learn how to interpret their own inner experiences. By studying the Book of Daniel, in the Bible, you will be able to learn to interpret your inner experiences.

Sleep and memory are powers that allow us to know the great mysteries of life and death.

Dreams are astral experiences. Dreams are real.”

Excerpt from: “The Supreme Message”, by Samael Aun Weor.

Summary

Astral travel is about consciously transferring one’s consciousness into the astral body, that is if one has an astral body, and then leaving the physical body to explore the astral plane with the astral body. If on the other hand if one does not have an astral body, astral travel is to consciously transfer one’s consciousness into the astral plane to explore the astral plane as consciousness.

The best and most natural moment to project one’s consciousness into the astral plane is just before falling asleep. In the moments just before falling asleep the ties between the physical body and the astral body loosen and if we are aware enough we can take advantage of this moment and move our consciousness into the astral body.

None the less astral travel is a very natural activity that many people in the world have experienced at one point in their life. To cultivate it consciously on the other hand can be a marvellous tool to understand more about life, especially about where we go when we die and the why of many things that here in the physical world, are still a mystery.
